fuel filter water separator?

anyone drained the water from their fuel filter? how'd you do that... i have a 99 beetle and can't figure it out... at my 5000 mile service today, the dealer couldn't even find the fuel filter, or a computer explanation of where it was, or how to drain the water off... help!

As you face the engine from the front of the car, the fuel filter is on your left, near the top. It looks like a stubby oil filter hanging down from a fitting. You don't have enough water in there to worry about after only 5000 miles. I thought the service schedule calls for draining the water at 10,000 or 20,000 miles, or something like that. I've never drained mine, so I'm not sure how you do it. There's supposed to be a fitting on the bottom of the filter.
