You've probably not received any help in this thread since it doesn't apply to your car/engine. This thread only relates to the specific emissions issues of the 2009 common rail diesels and newer.

So I still have my 2012 tdi Passat, while I was driving back to school, it caught on fire, had the car towed to a VW dealership and this is what they found. They found a hole underneath the DPF, they are sending two engineers, one from Chattanooga and another one from Germany to determine the cause of this melt down and liability. From what they can tell so far, so much soots were in there and it got so hot, it melted a hole. Not sure how to load pictures on this yet, but will keep you all updated.

Whats with all of the oil on the bottom of the motor?
I assume thats what was on fire from the exhaust/catalyst.

Honestly, I have no idea, now they are saying there is no sign of fire damage. Literally trying to evade responsibilities. Will have to try them again . Will keep you guys posted. This has been a nightmare.
