Delvac 1 in Rhode Island

Does anyone know where I can purchase Delvac 1 in RI? I'm close to getting first 5000 mile oil change. Has anyone gone to Scott VW with their own oil?

Don't know if any of these are close to you, apparently there are no distributors in RI....but these are all the next closest places that sell by the case for ~$22/gallon. Give the closest one a call...

Also, I haven't used Scott, but I have used N. Attleboro and brought my own oil, and they did a decent job.

Doc, you can also check with your local CAT dealer and purchase their Caterpillar Diesel Engine Oil...it's just DELVAC1 in a different bottle and typically a couple o' bux less/gallon.

I HIGHLY reccomend VW of North Attleboro. I always bring them my own oil and they have no issues. They have been great so far! This is not something I say lightly regarding VW dealers

Doc, is this a new 2003 TDI, or a new 2004 TDI?

Delvac-1 is a great motor oil for the 2003 and earlier TDIs. It is NOT approved for the 2004 TDI with PD. In fact, using Delvac-1 can void your warranty on a 2004.

You can also look at local auto parts stored for Mobil-1 5w40 Truck and SUV oil. It's reportedly exactly the same as D-1 (check out the specs on their website). It's cheaper than what most distributors charge for D-1 by the case or gallon, and you can get it in quart bottles.
