Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

Filled the Jeep up with RUG at the local Costco. $2.79 per gallon. Previous fill was $2.65

The Passat is still running on my August 9 purchase of diesel in Temecula, so no price up date there.

So here in San Diego, RUG prices are up 14 cents in 2+ weeks. Would say this is close to a normal run up pre Labor Day.

Sharon was in the process of changing the prices.

When the refiners are back to "normal" storage of refined product. Till then, they are going to improve their margin as much as they can.

Harvey may be just the start too. Irma might be headed to the Gulf which will continue the shortages of crude into the refineries and fuel into the pipelines.

Some folks are trying to do *business* under part of the 6th biggest lake in America.

T-town is up 'bout 10 % --- Currently

anyone remember the OPEC issue. It was $.28 -- next day it was TRIPLE.

.... and you got 5 gallons. My work van got 12 MPG.

Before Harvey $2.09/gal RUG, Currently 2.89/gal RUG.

D2 has wavered slightly around 2.44/g (low 2.39 to high 2.79) most around 2.49/gal

Coupe stations in the area are out of RUG.

Most of the stations I saw today had diesel for $2.549, with quite a few at $2.499 and one Cenex at $2.399 so I filled up. RUG was $2.519 at that station.

Lots of stations with RUG and diesel prices the same. Very unusual for this season. But I expect the spread will reverse when the winter-blend gasoline gets dumped on the market September 15th. Diesel will likely come down slowly, while gasoline will fall like a rock.

Noticed last night that one of the stations in SC has both D2 and rug at $2.49. Will be interesting to see how Irma effects prices. With the size of that hurricane and where they're saying it's headed, the pipelines for NC/SC/GA/FL/VA will probably not be running at full capacity for another week, if at all.

$2.69 for RUG and $2.75 for diesel at the local Speedway.

8/25: RUG was $1.999-2.159; diesel $2.149-2.359
8/31: RUG was $2.399-2.599; diesel is $2.399-2.559
9/01: RUG is now $2.459-2.659; diesel is $2.459-2.599
9/06: RUG is now $2.459-2.729; diesel is $2.459-2.799

Prices haven't really gone up recently, except for one station. But I did find an out of the way station with sky high prices that skewed it a little bit.

Filled up with D2 again at Costco in Temecula for the first time since early August. Then it was a steal at $2.35 - Today it was $2.83 per gallon. In San Diego Diesel is about $2.89 and rising. RUG at the Same Costco was $2.89, so up a dime in the last 5 or 6 days.

For the first time in my memory D2 is cheaper than RUG.
just paid 2.59 for D2 and it was 2.67 for RUG

I filled up yesterday for $2.45/g, RUG was was $2.54/g

My love for Diesel just gets stronger during a fuel crisis.. I bet those Diesel owners in Florida were very happy to find fuel while everyone else was stressing about making it a few miles down the road.

I had the same thought.

Spent past 3 days in VT. Gas is $2.65 - 2.75. Diesel is same as gas or 5 cents less.

$3.26 ,went down 9 cents.

Up here in Nova Scotia it has been under $1/L since April but since Hurricane Harvey it's now $1.04/L. Meanwhile gasoline is almost $1.30/L hahah

In central NH, diesel is running 12 - 15 cents less than RUG, with diesel in the $2.40ish range.

My Diesel is about equal to my wife's 100 % gas

Filled the truck up last night with rug for $2.44. D2 was $2.45 at the same station.

Current Fuel Prices - Southern Ontario Fuels

Funny enough, but in Southern Ontario, all retail stations get their base fuel from a common pipeline from windsor to Kingston, with Terminals (where the 80,000 Litre Tanker Trucks fill up) along the way.

At the terminal (depending on the fuel , an additive is mixed in depending on brand (usually for Premium Unleaded).

So, Our base fuels arrive from the same refinerie(s), and are stored as needed at the terminal bases.

Approximtely 10% of the Southern Ontario market for Volume of fuels is supplied by US refineries.

This means that 90% of Fuel is sourced from within Canada.

Yet , after the Hurricane Hit South Texas, and the refinery shut down,
the retail pricing of RUG (and D2) went up 10 cents per litre (40 cents CAD per US gallon equiv).

After the initial news reports about the price increase, and the refinery was turned back on again in the US (I believe), and the 10% of extra shipments were back on stream, did the price go back down...?

Fuel prices seem to always be quick to go and slow as molasses in January coming down. Here on the Gulf of Mexico coast ours went up about 40¢ US a gallon, too. The really crazy high stations eventually settled back down but everyone is still a good 20-30 cents higher than they were pre-Harvey.

Interestingly, though, diesel has dropped at several stations "suddenly, and without warning" bringing it at or lower than RUG again, which is a rarity here.

So as of this morning, prices in south Baldwin County look like this:

RUG: $2.489-2.639
D2: $2.429-2.579
E-free 89/marine midgrade: $2.989-3.389

Fuel is priced as a global commodity. Got a hiccup in one part of the world that effects supply, and everyone pays for it.

Thanks to our governor, diesel prices jumped ~$0.20 everywhere last Wednesday. Since the hurricanes in the months prior, diesel has been more expensive than regular unleaded and now more so
