BRM with 471000 miles, replacing the timing belt tonight. When I was pinning it to tdc the top cam sprocket need to be tweaked 2-3mm to get the cam lock to slide in easily after the crank lock was in place .... got the new belt on, rotated 2 full rotation and the cam sprocket still needs to be tweaked 2-3mm to slide the cam lock in.

Any ideas? Is it normal?

It rotating it it never bond up.

Thanks J

In my ‘06 the cam lock never goes in real easy. Have to tweak it a bit. Depends on your cam timing. My torsion value showed 0.0 before changing but pin was still tight. After replacing belt it shoes -2.0. Car ran fine but tweaked it to +1.0 after belt had broke in a bit.

What the 2 revolution do is put the slack on the tensioner side of the belt. I will do the 2 revolutions and adjust tension if it is off and then tweak the cam to get a slip fit on the cam pin.

Almost forgot. Always turn in the direction of engine rotation from the crank.
