You really should read my build thread. Ebay is full of reinforced silicone reducing 90's, etc to make your install clean. Use t band clamps too. Regular hose clamps won't hold 2 bar of pressure.

I keep blowing my lower elbow out.

Those elbows are available in multi ply. You shouldn't be blowing them out unless you have other issues. Actually failing or coming loose? How much are you boosting?

Boosting 28-30#. They’re splitting up.

hi guys so i did a lot of readint through this thread.

i found this BV43 turbo stock brand new from germany.

im running a FMIC so the plumbing on the 43 is fine dont need the 43a outlet.

anyone run one of these, i dont need 240hp, so frans or xman turbos are a little pricy this is much cheaper?

thoughts?

it will be for a 6 speed RWD BHW project :D

also please dont buy it out from under me haha...

waiting for comments before buying.

thanks tim

No TDIs Currently, I have an R36 Corrado. I've had an ALH Corrado swap, AHU Corrado swap and 2003 TDI Jetta
It’s worth it, it’s a more robust turbo than stock and has great potential,

did you install the stock compressor with basic compressor wheel or did you have one of the known shops swap in different wheels?

I was looking into running a GT2052. Anyone have any idea about how it compares as far as boost potential and ease of installation? Any thoughts as compared to the BV43A? It’d be going on a B5.5 that has tons of mods including the 5 speed tdi swap. Already has a TDTuning tune and ate the stock VNT17 in 30k miles.

FWIW, the TDTune did not eat your VNT17. Have many swapped cars out there running that tune with no issues with the turbo.

You'll like it. Very simple conversion as you can see in my thread. I'm planning to transplant my BV43 stage 2 BHW into an 03 Explorer Sport Trac 4x4.

gt17vb might be good especially if it has the spring locks so you can use the oe passat boost plumbing.

I couldn't seem to find one, when I looked unless I wanted a churbo. Frans didn't have any either. I finally just ordered a GT1756v hybrid from X-man. I am just now getting the tune sorted out, so I can't report on it yet. Most folks seem to go for the newer style turbos like the GTD1752vrk etc. I still have to deal with biannual emissions inspections so I wanted something that was very close to stock.

@Doobie666 How did you finally choose the BV43? And do you have certain power goals? TBH I never searched, so apologize if that annoys you.
