Hi.I posted this at VWvortex but did not get any replys.I know the car is not a TDi but my 2005 jetta Wagon TDI works fine? The problem is with the second VW.
2001 Golf 1.8T but not GTi.
When I turn the car off and pull a keyfob out, car shuts off but acts as if the key was still in an ignition switch. What I mean is when I open a door a buzzer goes off, you can still turn the steering wheel and the car does not react to pressing any buttons on a keyfob.
And I run Vog-com with no fault codes found.
Any idea what may be wrong.

With any lock problem lube is the first thing to try. Then you push key in and out a few times. It's amazing how many people will pay me to come out and spray lube in a lock. They always say the same thing with that doe eyed look...."that's all it wuz?" Sometimes I take the lock apart just to make them feel like they got what they paid for.
