My evening was simple.

102,000 miles on the 2006 PD Jetta, did an oil change, filtre change via TDIPARTS. Used 507.00 this time around too. We always change the fuel filtre the same time we do the oil change regardless, if you want to see the filtre.

I enjoyed the 60*F ambient air this morning. More power and less smoke than 80*F or 90*F air.

So...I drove with more enjoyable gusto ;)

You're supposed to change the filter when you change the oil. Every time. And the filters always look that black.

Fuel filtre is 20,000 miles according to the manual. Some of our filtres [fuel filtres] haven't lasted 4,000 miles though.

The ones I would like to replace are the center console with includes, one so called dome light (festoon in the center) and two map lights (one on each side these are wedge bulbs)

I'd also like the replace the rear passenger lights. Are those also festoon?

Are you saying the center festoon is a 30mm?

Is it this one you bought for the festoon?

3022-xHP2

31 x 10mm festoon with 2 High Power SMD LEDs
Available with Cool White or Warm White LEDs

Any maybe something like this for the side wedge bulbs?

WLED-xHP5

4 Radially Mounted High Power SMD LEDs, 1 forward aiming SMD LED
WLED-xHP6

6 Radially Mounted High Power SMD LEDs

The chart from sylvania is totally confusing and I cant's figure out what goes where and which bulb to buy.

3mm LEDs for the sunroof switch and the door lock pin.

5mm LEDs with holders for the overhead console.

The 3mm ones I already had and couldn't tell you a part number, the 5mm LEDs and holders I got from www.superbrightleds.com I got a few different LEDs in different brightnesses and viewing angles. Still trying to nail down which ones i want.

tothemax, what you need is 3 - 39mm fuse (festoon) style LEDs and 2 - 194 style LEDs.

You can either choose the LEDs you want from superbrightleds.com or grab them all in kit form from 42 draft designs here: http://store.42draftdesigns.com/5pc-mk4-LED-Interior-Lighting-Kit_p_38.html

super bright LEDs has a lot more choices. 42 Draft designs has a kit and all you need to do is choose a color. Your choice.

What i did was the sunroof switch like this:

and the W8 lights like this:

Finally hard wired my Passport Escort 9500ix.

Finally hard wired my Passport Escort 9500ix.

The plastic around the remote does not look too good on the photo but the black covers a lot and it's not too bad in real life. It was real PITA dremeling that plastic part to fit the remote into it.The sides of it are now paper thin. then it was another PITA to try to fit it back into the hole. But in the end after a lot of cursing it finally went in. Maybe there is a better spot to mount it? Any thoughts on an alternate location are welcome.

You can see how much dremeling it took to fit the remote in there

Also tuned up my bike and put the rack up in preparation for next weekend.

Today I gave the car a treat. Along with trying out some new products.
 • Oil and filter
 • Engine shampoo
 • Wash
 • Cleaned all glass
 • Installed Motorsport Density Dogbone Mount
Then I decided to give the new Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 a try. It goes on easy and is easy to buff. Absolutely no white powdery residue when buffing. Feels really smooth to the touch afterward.

Next I cleaned the leather with Zaino Z-9 Leather Soft Spray Cleaner. This stuff does a great job of cleaning the leather!

Then on to Z-10 Leather in a Bottle. I have tried many leather care products and this is by far better than any other product I've tried! The leather feels great and the smell is fantastic! Highly recommend it!

New 2.5 DP (awesome work from Whitbread), adjusted turbo VNT actuator, flushed the PS system and new sway bar bushings. She's constantly a work in progress...

Poo Sandwich! Dude ! ... It certainly does look like that..... I would even go further and call it a $hit job... My question is did you really have to post it twice right next to photo of your job???

However, I have a couple more virgin plastic inserts left that I will bring with me along with my dremel at the GTG so you can give it your best shot...

Then we can truly compare dremeling skills... I will take a photo of your dremeling job and post right here too (twice)

On a more serious note,

I think the remote for the Valentine has a superior design. It appears to have a lip to cover the $hity dremelling job underneath .... the dremeling joint is completely hidden on your install.

That is not the case with the Passport 9500ix . It has no lip that covers the joint thereby leaving the poor dremeling job exposed.

Conclusion: Your dremeling job is just hidden ... That's why it looks better than mine ;)

delvi, the wheels look excellent. And as they would say on vortex, nice poke.

Friday evening I changed the cabin filter on my wagon so I could write a how-to on it, and was ashamed by what I found.

A/C does work better, however.

That ain't bad. Imagine what they look like when my customer's get a deer in the headlight look when I ask when it was last changed. I've pulled some truly bodacious cabin air filters and snowscreens.

This was before you were born delvi, but I owned a 1974 Plymouth Scamp, babie blue with a white vinyl top, two door. It looked exactly like this one. I bought it used from a dentist with 100,000 miles in 1986 going to school here for a year.:D It had a slant-6 225 cu in 3-sp auto.

Anyway, it was a huge car in my prospective. One fall afternoon we were 7 people in the car, 3 in front, 4 in the back driving down the highway. Cramped. Someone in the front seat reach underneath the dash and flipped down a lever in the far corner. It was a 4 in x 4 in metal door that swung open and 5 pounds of squirrle nests blew into the passenger compartment.:D Oh those gals in the back seat. The eighties and hair spray owned them.

pulled gauges

This A.M. I removed the dual gauge pod from the TDI because it is now my wife's since she rolled and totaled her Liberty CRD. She doesn't care to look at extra gauges. Another bonus of the McNally gauges is that they are easy to plug back in if I need to use the car for a road trip or something.

Friday bought a 7.3L Powerstroke and ordered new tires for it within 30 minutes of getting home. It has goodyear wranglers on it like the Jeep had. This weekend ordered Ford severe duty intake, EGT, boost, trans temp gauges, and 4" turbo-back exhaust ($289 shipped ).

Just got off the phone with DP tuner, and my chip is being programmed right now with: 60hp codes econo, 80hp codes econo, 1200rpm hi-idle for A/C boost, and 120hp codes race. Not available for the TDI but she used to have a beetle and they had Charlie tune it!

Edit: Here is a link to my lostkjs thread w/ wreck details and pics.

sorry to here about the Jeep. Hope the wife is ok. Congats on the power stroke. The 7.3 is the best one they ever had much better than the new ones.
