I will be upgrading the turbo but can PD150's support 200 whp? Just want clarity and it seems to be a gray area.

No, I won't want more in the future, :p

Many people claim that it is.
I say that it is not. Not stable and durable.
For 200PS you need 35-36 ° duration.
What do you want to driving SOI?
Your end of delivery is too late and your EGT rises and grilling the charger.

Interesting. One thing to add, its not like the engine will be producing 200 all the time, just spurts here and there.

even more problematic, if EGT har getting to high, it will hurt the turbo..
I did 205 CRANK bhp with a gt1749vb turbo and ARL injectors with duration of 35 duration and 1,75bar of boost, spend 150.000km on it, 2 trips to the ring, 3x sommerhollidays to north italy (1500km drive and a lot of autobanh) driving 150-170km/h most of the time.
no problem what so ever, sold the car, when 3 kids started showing up.

Yes, in GB it is possible. :)
For 233hp you need 38° duration.
Sorry, never the car have 233hp with stock 550er PDE!

I think duration was actually higher maybe 39 :) (smokefree)
I know UK has bad rep for over inflated figures but I use a dyno that's realistic. Air temp was not in hot water haha

Just to be clear this was experiment to see what 2260 can do with stock nozzles. Still done approx. 10k before changing nozzles for 120% and ported head.

There's cars in the UK that have done 260 flywheel HP on stock PD130/PD150 injectors with GTB2260vk, but they have been pushed hard and a number have suffered with cracked pistons.

So yes its possible, no it perhaps might not be recommended.

38/39 degrees duration gives 230hp (realistic dyno) on a healthy engine / injectors and will last for years of abuse, we know from track testing, not a quick squirt on the road. Increase SOI safely and EOI is no worse than some stock cars. Only the Germans say its not possible...

I have a car in my workshop now, tuned by others, 43degrees duration and a smoke screen James Bond would be proud of! drives like crap too TBH

If you can run around 230hp on a 4 cyl I am guessing these could theoretically do 280hp on a 5cyl?

We had also in germany 257hp on dyno. But no one believe us here in germany ?
42..43°
engine do 260km/h in Golf 4.
But when the fuel is hot there is much power lost.

Thank you guys for this awesome discussion. :) Really this question is for anyone who has experience pushing these 1.9L TDI's into the 150>200hp range with 200>230ft-lb of torque would be nice. However, is it realistic for long-term reliability?

Would you have any idea what a 1.9L TDI could handle for long pulls? I'm thinking a 2056V turbo matched to a set of PD injectors so that the duration could be limited to something that won't overheat the piston or cause smoke problems.

I'd like to avoid the cracked piston problem ( cylinder 2 of my current setup )
