hard shifting to first.

Hi
I get dificulties to shift in first gear when the car is not moving. It's easier to change it when i'm going at 5.
I changed my tranny oil, it helped a bit but the problem is still there.
Anyone know what it could be? my brother have the same problem
We both have jetta 2000 with 210 000 km

Are you looking for a solution, or a workaround?

The most common work-around is to shift into second, then up to first. It helps "index" the transmission (this is my term for it, I am sure there is a more precise phrase available by someone who knows more about trannys that I do.)

Well I look for a solution, I like it when it shift nice and smooth.
For the moment, I shift in second before going in first. But even the second is a bit hard

Onthe gear linkage on mine there was a nut loose and that caused it to be difficult to put into first. Look in the engine bay for the linkage and check all is tight.

sounds like the scyro is worn.
