Window creaks and groans

Just recently, my drivers side front window has started creaking and groaning as it lowers.

Is this a sign of impending window regulator failure? You would think I should know the answer to this, but the 09 is my first car with power windows.

Is it possible that removing the the door skin and lubing the cables and sliders with sunroof grease will prolong the life?
