Hello all! Great site here! New to TDI Club, and this is my first post. Bought this little Jetta about 4 months ago to commute back and forth to work. It has 225,000 mi on it now. On a getaway this last weekend the turbo took a **it. Had to limp her home. Already pulled the turbo out and the compressor/turbine shaft snapped in half. Got a few questions for you guys.
1.Do I upgrade to the PD140 turbo with a Malone stage 1.5 tune or go stock?
2.Will I see any better fuel economy with the upgrade and tune? Trying to justify the extra cost of turbo/tune.
3.Do I delete the EGR? It is working properly and all was cleaned along with the intake at 200,000 mi. Just thinking while I've got it all tore apart
might be my opportunity to avoid another problem down the road. Not to
mention, sure would make more room to install the new turbo
4.What's your thoughts on replacing the oil feed line for the turbo?
No leaks...yet, but sure looks like a PIA to fish out of there. I know I'll have to change the oil feed line if I upgrade the turbo.
Any insight, tips, or tricks would be appreciated!!
