Hi,

I'm going to fit a later clutched alternator from my ibiza tdi to my older 1Z engine, its the same unit as a golf mk4, the plug on the alternator is smaller but i'm 99% the wires are the same. to fit it i obviously need to de-pin the standard plug, just wondering if anyone knows which wires go where!

I'll get some pics of each plug and wires to make it clearer tomorrow!

Thanks!

Ryan

Well I'm not sure about Ibiza's, but I think if I remember correctly, the pulley shaft from a newer alternator is a slightly different size than the old one. When my clutched pulley died on my 03 Jetta, I tried to take the one from one of my old 98 Jetta alternator pulleys. Now, that being said, I'm not sure if the alternator body is the same. It very well may be, and you may be able to use the whole thing. The only thing I wonder about is how far the pulley sticks out.

the whole alternator will fit a treat, it's just the small 2 pin plug that needs changing. The later plug has two blue wires but the early one that i'm replacing has a blue and a red wire. What these do i have no idea!
