Unlikely

Next Wrangler will offer 4 cylinder diesel in export markets.
Euro and U.S.A. emissions will nearly be aligned by the time next Wrangler is introduced.
3.0L VM has obvious packaging issues in Wrangler.

"If" a diesel Wrangler is available here I predict it will be four cylinder.

4cyl would be better, also more affordable.

Diesel will drive a premium in a Wrangler package. It is about 20 years over due.

I'll own one if they bring a mid to upper 20s to a Wrangler. 8 speed Auto would just be icing on the cake.

Only downside to that zf transmission is the cost of maint, $1000 for a fluid change to me kills any potential fuel economy gains.

Where is that $1k figure from??? First I have heard of that. A major downside. OTOH, if that is every 100k, then that is like a TB job. Might be an ok cost if one must have an auto.

AFAIK the ZF 8-speed is officially "lifetime-fill" i.e. "maintenance-free", which is the norm nowadays, rightly or wrongly. But there's no way a fluid change will be $1000. It likely requires special tools (probably a scan tool) but at that price, you're buying the mechanic a new scan tool with the job ... ! ! !
