2002 Golf/Jetta front clip swap
Hi all,

I know cold air intake mods catch a lot of slack since the stock one is fine, however mine has been exposed since I swapped the front end of my golf to a jetta front clip. With winter here in southern alberta the intake is already a little dirty and I’m worried about it sucking in all the dirt, mud, snow, etc. from the road/wheel.

Any suggestions on what to do? I see two possibilities, either move the intake by getting a cold air or creating something to protect it from the sludge on the road.

Thanks for your time and responses

my filter ended up where the stock side mount intercooler was
just need an intact fender liner, and the bumper grille insert from a nonturbo car without the cutouts and it stays relatively clean

still nowhere near as clean as a stock filter housing, but there just isn't room for that any more sadly
another option is to punch a hole in the firewall and put the airbox in the glovebox region, that's what a lot of mud trucks do that are going through deep water all the time. Gets loud though and you might need to throw away the heater box.
