i've been reading the forum alot and finally bought a tdi sel passat few days ago and signed up to join the forum! really enjoying the new car
anyway, i always had a suction cup mount for my escort passport 8500 with direct wire from the fuse. but with the new car i decided to get the blend mount and the mirror tap.
has anyone tapped the mirror power to power their radar detector? i cant find information on this. i dont know how to get to the wires that powers the rear view mirror.
if all else fails i will have to get the direct wire and add a circuit from the fuse.
got the black on black 2014 passat tdi sel, came with first aid kit, cargo blocks and lip spoiler thing. oh, and conti tires instead of the kooks. oh, dealer threw in an ipad mini, tint, and $25 coupon for gas as a christmas event thing :D
and below the pic of rear view mirror with nothing yet. looks like i wont be able to get to the wire from the mirror end. maybe ill have to take take apart the over head console for the other end of the wire?

There is 12v power in the dome light, which is where I recommend hooking up your radar detector. This power turns on when you unlock the car, and turns off when you lock it, or 10 minutes after you turn off the ignition (whichever occurs first).

We have tapped into this power for a cell phone charger and intend to hook the dash cam up in the same place. Keeps the wiring nice and clean.
