• The TDIClub classifieds section is a heavily trafficked section of the forum that encompasses want-to-buy (WTB) and for-sale (FS) threads for the entire world. Due to the demanding nature and fast pace of this section, it is imperative that you know and understand the rules. It is also important to remember that this is the only parts classifieds section.

Cross-posting and posting classifieds in the regional sections (except the dedicated thread in Ontario) is not permitted.

Multiple items should be sold in one thread. Make sure to provide a description for all items in your post along with pictures and prices. If you start multiple threads with individual items, they will be locked or combined at the discretion of the moderators.

Here is a quick outline of the classifieds section rules. If you don't follow these rules, you subject yourself to thread deletion, thread combination, infractions, or posting privilege revocation.

    Thread titles:
    • Put FS or WTB in your thread title. This will let other users know if you are selling or buying.
    • Briefly describe what you are selling. Thread titles have limited space. Be as descriptive, yet succinct, as possible.
    • Put your location in the title.
    • If space allows, put your price in the title

Title example (single item): "FS: 2004 Mk4/BEW cylinder head - Portland, OR - $500"
Title example (multiple items): "FS: MK6 fog lights, front bumper, headlights, grill - Detroit, MI"
Title example (car part-out): "FS: Mk3 Jetta parting out engine & interior - Dallas, TX"

    Thread text descriptions and pictures:
    • All for-sale threads must include pictures of the items that you are selling. One picture is sufficient, but multiple pictures with different angles will help buyers. A picture is worth a thousand words. If you don't know how to post pictures on TDIClub, see this thread: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=286691
    • All for-sale threads must include a description. We don't charge per-word, so be as descriptive as possible. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for buyers.
    • All for-sale threads must include a price. Auctions and bidding are not allowed. If you want to auction something off, use eBay.
No picture, no price, NO SALE!

    Thread maintenance/updates/bumps:
    • When you sell something, update your thread with "SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title.
    • If you have multiple items for sale, update your thread as each item has been sold. When everything has been sold, updated the thread with "ALL ITEMS SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title when all items have been sold.
    • If you bump your thread, please delete old bumps by clicking on EDIT and then deleting the old bump. This will reduce clutter in your thread and make it easier to read. It also makes you look less desperate.
    • If you drop your price, please update your first post in addition to posting the new price. If you would like the thread title changed, click on the report post icon and let a moderator know what you would like the title changed to.

    Moderator intervention and infraction points:
Moderators will be monitoring the classifieds section. If a moderator determines that you have not been following the rules listed above, corrections will be made and infraction points will be assessed to your account.

What is an infraction point? Simple - it's a system of keeping track of user behavior. A moderator can assign a point value based on the severity of the infraction, as well as an expiration date on the points assessed. If you accumulate a certain number of points, the system will auto-ban you for a predefined amount of time. The more points you accumulate, the longer your ban period will be.

One example of points is as follows: multiple threads will be combined into a single thread, with the number of infraction points assessed corresponding to the number of threads merged. If we merge four threads into one, then you will be assessed four points that expire in 30 days. When you reach five points, the system will auto-ban you for one day.*

*This is an example based on the current infraction system structure. We reserve the right to modify the infraction system at any time without notice or updates to this announcement.

Thank you for your cooperation, and good luck with your sales and searches! :)

I have obtained one of my customers cars that was sadly wrecked on the left side, just shy of 300k miles. It is a '98 Jetta, GL model without sunroof. Tornado red with black interior.

The engine management system, as well as the engine wiring harness, cluster, intercooler, and plumbing are all spoken for. But the engine proper, including the pump, are still available. The car still starts and runs, won't drive because the trans mount bracket was cracked in the accident and the gears cannot be found easily (I was able to find 1st and drive it on to my tow dolly, just could not find reverse). But I am sure the transmission itself is fine.

Car is a one-owner, well cared for example. Many good parts. I replaced the A/C compressor with a new one just 2 years ago, and that is all still intact. It has a replacement 90A alternator (should be 120A) because that failed while he was out of town and that was all they had available.

Left doors, and LR door glass as well as the LR wheel and wheel cover are pretty badly tooefed. Not sure if the rear beam is bent. Seemed to track straight with the rear axle on the ground once I put a different wheel on, but I cannot say for sure if the rear beam is straight so I will assume it is not.

Please PM me with anything you may need, trying to recoup some of his cost of his 2005 Jetta he had to purchase for replacement of this car. Also, I am NOT interested in shipping big bulky heavy items (like the transmission, etc.) but will gladly keep it here until you can arrange to come get it or I can bring whatever to TDI fest in the Fall.

I will be dismantling this car as needed.

Before anyone asks: this is a base model car, as in as basic as you could purchase a Jetta TDI in the USA in 1998. So, it has no ABS, no side airbags, GL trim (so no power windows or mirrors), steel wheels. Cruise control, keyless entry, Premium stereo cassette, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, central locking, anti-theft, were all standard equipment. Automatic transmission was NOT an option for these, they all got the tough 02A 5-speed manual.

Also, the engine and transmission will work in a B4 TDI as well.

Injectors: sold
Fuel lines from filter to pump: sold
Intake manifold: sold
alternator & bracket: sold
radiator: sold

I'd prefer to keep the engine whole if I can, since I suspect someone may want it that way. But if there is no interest, I may break it up.

What is the engine worth? Complete EXCEPT the electronic portion. Basically, valve cover to oil pan, crank pulley to flywheel, intake and exhaust manifolds and turbo included, pump (with not-that-old timing belt) all included..

$1500?

You're close, you want to come here it run before I tear it apart?

I wil remove the belt-driven accessories however, but those are still available.

$900? I am open to offers, but since I just posted this today I am not going to entertain too much lowballing ;) .

I would PM Franko6 and ask him what he thinks a good solid 300k mile AHU is worth too, as he knows more about the specific parts sourcing than I do.

you dont just want to sell the injector pump do you?
Looks like I have too much interest in stuff other than the engine as a whole, so yeah I would sell the pump.

$400 shipped OK? Works fine, not leaking, *but has never been serviced* so keep that in mind.

can a 98 tdi be used as a donor for a mk4 flywheel swap? rumor has it the G60/vr6 swap can be done with other than a G60 flywheel.

I will ship to Canada if you email me all the BS that UPS wants for that type of thing. To be real honest though, the shipping on the flywheel is gonna be high. You'd be better off to find one locally if that is all you are wanting.

I guess this car has the fender-mounted antenna, is the gasket still good on that? The part through VW is NLA and I sure would like to have one.

I guess another thing would be aside from the antenna gasket, if you have a good sound insulator pad from the under-tray for the engine I would like to see how hard that would be to ship.

It wouldn't match color wise but I cannot for the life of me find a tan glovebox latch in good condition. If you have a good one I'd like to know what you would want.

Thanks

Antenna base gasket is mostly evaporated away.

Tow truck driver mangled the engine under cover, so it was tossed. There was not much left of it, and the sound deadener was gone. Upper engine cover still there, though.

Just the handle and the piece the handle hinges off of. I know you said that you are pulling the main harness out, when you would be taking the dash apart it would be easy to get to since the glovebox has to come out. Once the glovebox is out I belive there are only two bolts that hold the latch on to the panel. I'll try and take a picture to show you specifically. It should come off as one unit.

Another thing would be, as long as it wouldn't be hellacious to ship would be the resonator I guess its called. The muffler that's infront of the rear axle beam downstream from the catalyst. I would like to try some exhaust options out but I would like to keep my factory pieces. I think the exhaust has circular clamps on it.

I have one of those too. Several actually. Keep them for towing in dealer timing belt cars. :)

Front spoiler...

Does it have the two piece OEM lower front euro style spoiler? The small two piece black plastic spoiler that came on these from the factory. I could use a nice one if you have it. Also;

The small black plastic vent inserts on the front bumper.
The rear of the trunk black plastic trim, rear being the back of the car where the lock is.
Front grill
What kind of condition is the drivers bottom seat foam? I could use a nice solid seat bottom.
And a nice straight fuse box cover with door.

Thanks!

Grill is cracked, lower trim tooefed (again, I think from the tow truck).

Rear trunk trim should be fine. Driver's seat bottom is surprisingly solid. This owner was a little guy, so the foam held up. :p I may not be able to get to that seat too soon though, because I will have to cut open the left side of the car to get at it, but I will keep you posted.

I'd like to know what you would want for the upper engine cover + hardware, glovebox latch and the rear cup holder mechanism.
