Hey guys, Didnt know where exactly to post this, thought oil would be good just cause i think it might be my oil pump that just went out. Anyway heres the story:
I know some of you will blame this on my vegetable oil conversion, her it goes, I hooked up Veg to my car myself, solved the problems most ppl have with the tdi pulling a lot of vacuum, and heating it really hot, everythings fine there, I had bought the best stuff i could (glow plug heaters, switches, vavles etc.) but the hoses i used for the radiator going to my tank and back were out of old garden hose (i know its stupid, i was jsut tired of wasting money on it when you really dont save ahta much) anyway driving home the hose is leaking, there is no hot air from the fan inside, I pull over and fill up with water, this happened a few times.
One of the times it got really frickin hot, my oil light came on along with my fluid level (radiator). So i let it cool down a bit and fill back with water.
Well it seemed to be fine, but then later when filling up with water the seal on the radiator resevoir was gone, blew off when i opened te cap, and so when i put water in its not circulating (guessing its all under pressure and that what makes it pump) so theres plenty of oil in the engine, made sure of that, but the light is still on, so i try to put to the gas station which was about 200 feet from where i was on the offramp when the light went on. well as soon as i get there there was a loud sound, (i dont know if you know the sound your turbo makes when the pipe going to the intercooler blows off from too much pressure, but htats what it sounded like) and i all of a sudden lose my power. I thought it was just my turbo pipe blown off but its not, checked it.
So I let the car sit, and cool down, but i had to get home, and ended driving home, the car shut off by itself a few times, when it did i would put more water in. You could smell the oil was burning. (Luckily it was brand new oil - ELF) Also i tried going up a steep hil, and it wouldnt make it, the rpms just slowly went down even though i was pressing on the gas and then shut off.
I also noticed some carbon over 2 injectors (the two on the right of the engine)
I pulled off the pipe going from my intercooler to the egr and got my dad to bring the rpms to about 2, there wasnt much air being forced through like there normally is when the turbo is working (maybe theres a pipe that is blown off somehere jsut not the one i thought?)
So Im really stuck now, I just need to figure what is wrong so that i can order the parts.
(oh yeah can your oil light come on if there is too much oil? cause there is too much in it - i put more in when the light came on, i admit that theres quite a bit more than supposed to be, took a litre out and still too much in there, like an inch above the upper bend)
Possibilitied that i can think of would be that it is my oil pump and not putting any pressure?
Turbo blown and not pushing any air ( thinking ithis cause my oil got so hot and since the turbo is oil cooled? i dunno)
Compression leak - The two injectors that have what looks like carbon coming from them?
