Polo 1.9TDi or Golf 4 1.6 ??

Hi All

I am in between purchasing one of the above.

I do average mileage of +-50 000km per annum.
I get paid per km of business travel.

Which of the 2 vehicles would SAVE me money over a period of 5 years ?? taking into account servicing etc ??
Any advice appreciated, especially golf 4 1.6 or polo tdi drivers.

To be accurate, you'd need to be able to predict fuel costs for those five years. You can't. Too many variables.

One more question - which one is going to be more fun to drive? (I think you know what the answer will be from this board)

Also - the majority of the members here are from the states, so we don't have firsthand experience with either of the vehicles you mentioned. (No 1.6 engine here, no polo here) I own a Golf with the 1.9L ALH Engine (older style - not PD) It's a fabulous car to own and drive, and quite affordable. I image the Polo would be even cheaper, since it should have Variable Service interval (another reason we can't answer this question) and gets better fuel economy than my golf.
