My process took about 15 min as well. The representatives (yes, two) were fairly efficient. Mostly with their quick answers to my (common) questions. I'm sure they had repeated themselves umpteen times that day alone. The cross-eyed guy with a lisp had to borrow my screwdriver(s) to remove the license plate. I had two phillips and two torx screws on there... I had my wife pick me up out front of the dealership in our freshly washed 2015 Outback 2.5i Ltd for giggles.
The money showed up in my account 5 days later.
The non-VW bank loan was paid off about 18-20 days later.
The check for overpayment of loan was sent back to me 35 days later (made 2 payments from time of final interaction with VW claim portal). Came with notification of lien being removed and loan paid in full from my bank.
Paid $19,500 for the JSW used with 38K (my third TDI; previous 2005 and 2010 wagons)
Received $19,875 or something close to that after driving for two years.
Logged right at 80K miles and turned it in with 118,377 on the ODO.
Did not pay for timing belt/water pump service!!!
Overall it was a good experience. I would buy another TDI. I like the size of the Subaru OB and AWD, but do very much miss the german driving dynamic of a VW.
