So i own a 2001 golf mk4 ahf. I was considering putting on a hybrid turbo and injectors to gain more power. But when seeing the price it will cost and hiw much you gain i wasnt so sure. I seen the arl engine with just a tune getting up to 200hp, so i am considering swapping my engine to arl.
Mu questions are how much will it cost, is it worth it, and what parts do i need.
I know for sure i need the engine gearbox cluster and ecu. But do i need something else and do they need to be all from the same car and hiw difficult is it. Thanks

Precise questions lead to precise answers
Are you on a budget ?
What is your goal in terms of power ?

PD conversion takes time
Yes pd150 + tune = 190hp - maybe max 200
With your ve 110hp you need at least nozzles and turbo to make this power.

In both case don't forget uprated clutch

My budget maybe 2000. I will do most of the work apart from wiring. My goal is 200-250hp

Okay, so from my own experience, pd150 engine 400-500€, stronger clutch 1000€ if you take Sachs SRE, exhaust maybe ~200€ if you can build it yourself (mig or tig welding machine).
Turbo is the main part, if you want an hybrid turbo so gt1856 should be good for your power goal and costs ~850€
If you don't like hybrids, gtb2056 is good for 250-260hp, but you also need the exhaust manifold. Good quality GTB kit is ~1600€ if I recall correctly.
Few suppliers weld gtb2056 onto 1.9 exhaust manifold, they sell it something like 1000€
If you are on a budget, gtb2056vl from Volvo are damn cheap on eBay, maybe 300€, but you need an adapter plate to make it fit 1.9 exhaust manifold (old aaz, afn, 1z have a 3 hole manifold)

Finally, stock injectors are good till a reliable 230hp, for 250hp uprated injector nozzles should be better for the reliability but cost 600-900€
Some say you can get 270hp from stock injectors, maybe it's true, but with crazy looooong durations. It is dangerous for engine health. Pistons melt when running too hot and injecting out of piston's bowl (long durations).
That said, if you want to keep stock pd150 injectors, you should be able to make 250hp with long durations

Your car was build in 2001 so wiring won't be a big deal ;)
