Hello All,
Just curious if it's normal for 2009-2014 model TDI's to use any oil in between the 10k interval oil changes?

if we have a lot of stop and go driving, we'll have to add a litre between changes, sometimes. or maybe twd the end of the interval it'll be almost to the add mark. i've extended my changes though unless i hit a year first. i'm up to 20k km per change, using Rotella 5w40 or 0w40 depending on what i feel like at the time. I'm deleted.

Some oil consumption is considered normal, I forget what VW deems "excessive" but I know its A LOT. The most I've ever burned is about a litre when I stretched my oci past my usual 7.5k.

I notice little to no consumption on the CJAA in the Mk6.

Different story for the Mk7 TDI though.....

I don't remember the oil level on my 2013 being off the full line when it came time for an oil change at 15000k kms (10000k mi). Same with the 2014 but it is coming due and I have to admit I haven't looked at it for probably half a year.

I just had a look and the oil level is getting close to the add mark.

My 2009 didn’t use any oil. Never added any oil or needed to, stayed full until VW bought it back in 2018 with 130K miles.

mine uses very little at 7.000km's but im prety sure it would use a tad more if i left the oil in longer at 10,000km's for engines that use alot of oil 1st check & replace your PCV valve. if that dont cure it you might have sticky/cocked up oil control piston rings you need to run a cleaner like this. called BG EPR mixed in the oil before changing it. idle engine for 20 minutes at 1200 rpm with the ocasional light tap of the throttle for good splashing. then change oil/Filter i would add a can of MOA to nuetralize any residue and further clean & protect engine.

Mine usually is down to the bottom of the hatched area of the dipstick in 12,000 km. I think that’s about 750 ml.
