To my knowledge (could be wrong), that one is only available in repair wire form.

Take a look at this page for a reference.

If anyone knows differently, please correct me.

Hmmm, I'm interested in this pin too. Are you putting the Touareg BT in your MKIV or passat? I'm doing this myself - do you know anyone who has done it yet?

Yes I try to do it....
I have put many pics in www.golfiv.fr under my garage
But I have tried with a BT touareg and it's not function : Touareg have kessy and not mkIV so the ignition is not possible with this BT

000979133 = 3-7209 (most terminals on car 1.0mm wire)

Just want to be sure, is 000979133 the correct wire/terminals required to wire up front/rear fogs to the euroswitch?
I know there are premade kits available, but I want to try and build my own first and saw I actually accomplished something on my car :eek:
Would these fit onto 14gauge wire? Yes I know I'll have to source a proper crimper as well :p

Like graeme86 said, 000 979 133 is 1.0 mm wire. N 906 844 05 is the contact you will need. They are readily available at the dealer (usually). However, 14 gauge wire is going to be too thick. 1.0mm wire is somewhere around 18 gauge.

Thanks Graeme but I don't need this type of terminals, this type of terminals can be very easy ordered direct to vw dealer - these are some codes I know:
equivalent terminal for repair wire
000 979 131 <=> N 103 358 07
000 979 132 <=> N 103 361 05
000 979 133 <=> N 906 844 05
000 979 134 <=> N 103 189 05

The problem for me is that I need only gold plated terminals which unfortunately are not available through the vw dealer, so the only solution is to know te equivalent code direct from AMP/Tyco, and to find an online supplier which sales reasonable quantity like this one: http://www.masterdistributors.com/ordering/productdetail.cfm?pr=2372191 or http://www.onlinecomponents.com/buy/AMP-TYCO/963715-5/ and have them in stock.

So if anybody knows the equivalent code from AMP/Tyco of the vw repair wire gold plated terminals please help
000 979 009 A <=> 963715-5 or 962885-5
000 979 018 A <=> ?
000 979 023 <=> ?

000 979 131 A <=> 964274-3
000 979 132 A <=> ?
000 979 133 A <=> ?
000 979 134 A <=> ?
000 979 135 <=> ?
000 979 225 A <=> ?
000 979 226 A <=> ?
000 979 227 A <=> ?

Let's find the equivalent and put here the codes for those who need them ! (I will edit this post each time a new AMP/Tyco equivalent code for vw repair wire terminal will be found)
looking for the terminal of repair wire 000-979-151-E (the female side of 000-979-134 ( N 103 189 05 ))

Does anyone have a VAG part number for the pins used in 000979103 (male pins for W8 interior light connector)?

I'd take you up on that, but It'd probably cost more in shipping than the parts themselves if sending them from the US :p

How many do you need? I'll do 10 for 5£ or $10 whichever is easier for you... Shipping included though it might take a couple weeks to get there...

I'd take you up on that offer if only I didn't need them in time for Tuesday :( I need (needed, see below) 12. They're available from here http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/terminalsnonins/mouldingterms.php#male (3-8060), but it's a bit silly: I want 12, which comes out to £4.63, but shipping comes to £3.95! Call me tight, but that postage is taking the mick.

I'm making some wiring adaptors to use on Lupo rear lights. The stock (female) wiring housing on the loom has the PN
893 971 636. So I ordered two of those, and two of the male counterparts 893 971 996 according to here: http://www.passatplus.de/umbauteile/stecker/stecker.htm. The thing is, I ordered the wrong pins for these housings (I ordered the ones I use for other harnesses) and they don't physically fit. I'm going to order another couple of housings for £2 that should work with the terminals I have. 4B0 971 996 should accept the larger terminals whilst being otherwise identical to 893 971 996.

I may take you up the offer in the future for that price though. Works out cheaper than getting them locally!

<off topic>
I have nothing for you about this part but I just wanna say that I love your avatar !! (Even though it's a gasser cluster) ;)
</off topic>
Thank you :D

Ash :)

I'd like to wire in a couple of accessories (stanav/handsfree) using the fuse box.

Hi Everyone,
Absolutely awesome thread!

I've had a quick read through and simply i require the following:

000 979 131

000 979 225 --> 3-7212

000 979 226

I've had a look through on the VWP website on this thread, and also a few of the links and i'm working on a cross-reference list for this so i can make a 10-12 pin xenon headlight adapter. if anyone can help with this it would be fantastic!
also, could someone recommend a good but cost-effective crimp tool for occasional use?

thanks

I was looking around my local radioshack and found this tool:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103683

It's designed for d-sub terminals, but when I was looking at it, it looked to me like it would work very well on cluster and other small terminals. So I bought it for $8.99 and tried it out. It works pretty dang well for what it cost. It almost looks like a factory crimp.

I've been doing my best to recreate a stock VW wiring harness extension for the Smyth Performance G3F. I have created a Google Docs file today that still needs to be filled in. I doubt there is much more information in the Google Docs file than already exists in this thread, but I will continue to update it as more information becomes available to me.

Most of these terminals can be sourced for $0.20-$0.90, and that is without a bulk purchase. I haven't found a source for the generic housing part numbers, but I strongly suspect that there is a cheaper source on these housings than www.passatplus.de, http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu, and especially VW dealers.

Hopefully a thread bump will get some of you knowledgeable folks to notice and contribute some more. :)

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so much so far!

Love the thread, good work! Does anyone think Tyco part number 144432-1 is the terminal for repair wire 000 979 133? Looks fairly similar, could it be so?

I'm not sure, but it looks very close. The www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu website shows this part as having a 2.8mm wide tab and as being 19mm long. The terminal on my desk that i believe is the same part has a ~2.5mm wide tab and is ~19.5mm long. The important (missing) dimensions are those that specify the housing dimensions. The terminal obviously needs to fit into the housing perfectly in order to be reliable; the exact length of the connector can vary by a few mm and still be 100% functional. I would guess that the height and width of the connectors can vary by approximately 0.2-0.5mm and still fit and function properly.

The TE website is inadequate when it comes to providing physical dimensions. The 3D models are great, but a 2D spec sheet with some actual numbers is clearly what is needed to verify.

144432-1 = At VWP's website this part number is 3-7209. This part is spec'd at 19mm long at both the TE and VWP websites. I have tentatively written the 144432-1 in my database as an equivalent part to 000 979 133 and 3-7209.

964274-2 = Equivalent to 000 979 131 (VW) and 3-8020 (VWP) (Listed earlier in thread)

927773-3 = Product Height 4.15mm; Product Length 19.3mm (Numbers in red are identical to length and width (not length and height) of the yet unidentified terminal in the 1,4,5,8 locations in the 10-pin housing with VW part number 1J0 937 733) I could not find further dimensions on this pin.

From small to large, here are the female terminal dimensions:

The dimensions of the smallest terminal in the 10-pin housing (#'s 2,3,9,10,6,7) are 2.1mm wide by 2.5mm tall is 19.5mm long.

The dimensions for the medium sized terminals (used in 10-pin housing (#'s 1,4,5,8) and 6-pin housing terminals (#'s 1,2,5,6) are the same: 3mm tall, 4mm wide and 19mm long. (The 6-PIN housing part number is VW# 1J0 937 731.)

The dimensions of the two largest terminals in the 6-pin connector are 6.7mm wide, 3.2mm tall, and 20mm long. (Pins #3 and 4) These are the terminals with two female clip connectors side by side. The compatible male blade is a single wide, flat blade.

Back to work.... :)

Amp plug contacts

Hi, First post - ever!
I have recently had traumas with Audi A4 Avant. Gears started slipping then completely disappeared after heavy rainfall. I went through the topping up fluid route which didn't change symptoms. I found the fault after asking online where the TCU was located. The passenger footwell was found to be completely full of water and the TCU had been under for a while and completely knackered!
I have sourced a replacement 01N 927 733 CN TCU but I need to rebuild AMP socket connecting it. The unit has a three line array with 66 small terminals and 2 larger ones. After scouring the internet I am still unable to identify the contacts or buy an equivalent plug using the number on the socket (AMP 1-962174-1). This is the first site I have found with lists of VW replacement sockets. Can anyone give me a clue?

I created a spreadsheet to cross reference almost all of the repair wires to Tyco terminals. There are two tabs, one for connectors with seals and one without seals. Thought others might find it useful, I have it uploaded here:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/?37zu3k7g1oempnm

They are all mostly available at onlinecomponents.com
