How to perform \"hammer mod\"

However it happened (see my other post today), I need a reverse hammer mod to increase fueling.

I tried to search but couldn't find any instructions. Can some point me to a "dummies guide to the hammer mod", preferrably with pictures so I don't bash the wrong part with a hammer?

How to perform \"hammer mod\"

Nevermind

I put quotes around the search string, "hammer mod"
and got a ton relevant posts to look at.

One quick question though, because I've already seen
two posts that contradicted each other: Which direction
of movement of the top of the pump _increases_ fueling,
passenger side or driver's side?

Thanks.

Bump!

Someone must have an answer: Which direction of movement
increases fueling, driver's side or passenger side??

How to perform \"hammer mod\"

Hi Dan,
Hammer mod coarse adjustment:
Sitting in the drivers seat,
Right to Raise IQ, and
Left to Lower IQ.

Raising IQ# decreases fueling at Idle.
Lowering IQ# increases fueling at Idle.
I recommend watching IQ field 01 in adaptation while doing this. Remember to reset your IQ metric to oem=32768 before adjusting anything.

Remember when bumping the QA to the drivers side can go to zero, and this can cause engine runaway, be careful to make only tiny adjustments, like .005" at a time.

Now here's the vagcom fine adjustment: Raise metric, to lower IQ value, to increase fueling.
To raise fueling at Idle in vagcom, you increase the metric (32768), and this decreases the IQ (ie: 3.0mg/R - 2.0mg/R)

.205's/10mm s02/s03 = 2.0 - 3.0 mg/R
.205's/11mm s02/s03 = 4.0 - 6.0 mg/R
.216's/11mm s02/s03 = 6.0 - 8.0 mg/R
.216's/12mm s03/s04 = 8.0 - 10.0 mg/R

How to perform \"hammer mod\"

I performed the mod this morning before heading in to work.
It is indeed very easy. I used a large screwdriver to
gently pry the quantity adjuster a barely perceptable
distance towards the driver side to increase fueling.

I know others have said it, but let me chime in and say
that even the smallest movement makes a _big_ difference
in IQ. Be especially careful when increasing fueling.

There should be a way to make a jig to do this with a screw action very slowly.
