Does any one know if the V.W.industrial engine still uses a timing belt or are they built with a h.d. gear drive system. I know it would be a large job to convert the car engine but if the ind. counter part had most of the usable parts it would be worth looking into. I gess im just spoiled but i hate that timing belt, even when you change it the nagging thought of it breaking and taking out my engine bugs me. I have several other diesels and the peace of mind of the trouble free diesel is what i bought the tdi for but that belt keeps buging me.

All TDIs have belt driven cams. If you can figure out a way around this you'll be my new hero.
