RNS510 Firmware & Maps Info Thread

#1 yes.

#2 For text messages to be read through the mfd and head unit, you will need bluetooth module 9zz, similar to 9w7 but with sms capabilites.

Does anyone have a disc I can borrow/buy so I can update my firmware.

I finally got around to check out your links, thanks for taking the time. The MDI in the center console of my 2013 TDI SEL Premium looks different, it's not like the one you linked to, I hope that makes sense. It has the Aux and a Power plug integrated, here is a picture:

A google search for "2013 nms passat mdi" did not return anything useful, so I'm back to square one...

At this point which upgrades would make sense, if any, and how do I get them?

The mdi module is within the cradle, it's bolted on and could be taken off to fit your configuration.

Hi i have a 2009 Touareg TDI RSN510 holding the setup button does not show me the Version section.. This method works fine on my 2012 jetta .. any ideas why i can't get this to work on my Touareg RSN?

My 2011 Tiguan would not do it either, until I installed the patch that enables Video in Motion (VIM). Do a search for that patch, and after installing it remember that you have to hold the setup button quite a while. Perhaps 20 seconds or longer.

I'm in the same boat as you. Maps are definitely out of date as far as I can tell.... how did you make out?

Seems like v9m is now available for north america, anyone has it ?

The advanced menu has to be enabled with VCDS in the older firmwares. It is enabled by default in the newer firmware.

It is. I will have my hands on one within the week. I will post the DB version once I get it, so everybody knows if it is worth the trouble.

8050 is V7M of the maps. 8112 was the newest version until a little more than a week ago.

The important part is the 2014Q1. The disc was released Q4, so it should at least contain Q3 data. Yet again screwed by Navteq/HERE. They advertise it as a whole new year, but in reality it is only 6 months data difference. Definitely not worth the $125 dollars. My opinion. Please don't ask me for it, because I cannot provide you a download to it, because of my previous Cease and Desist order from their Marketing Company HERE. Good luck, and I will update the first post in the thread.

This might be a dumb question but does the v9M update the HW and SW version? I have a 2015 Passat TDI SEL Premium and knowing that I have a car that has maps from 2013 upsets me as well as the significant delay in booting, camera, and responsiveness.

So, one thing I noticed about the new V9 disc. It is almost 1 GB smaller. From what I can glean they changed the DB format, and the new one is more efficient. It does appear to help. It appears to find routes quicker. Not lightning fast or anything, but a little snappier.

Being that they have been sending out cease and desist letters I would think you will have a hard time finding anyone easily. I would bet they are still monitoring this thread as well, for those asking and those responding. If you read back through the thread a ways there was one poster who was still doing it and asked to be PM'd for instructions.
