So I changed my transmission oil today. Piece of cake.

So while I had airbox off I decided to check and see if shift cables had slack. So I pinned the shifted in car using my tightest Allen wrench and then went and done the black switch pin near shifter on top of transmission. I then grabbed the black clips on cables compressed them and pulled back on cable as hard as I could on both.

So now my manual will go in reverse without pressing down on the shifter in the car.

I just pulled back the black retainers. Kinda jimmies the cables loose to just let them go back to however they wanted. No pulling or pushing on my end.

They can be tricky. On my golf, with both locators set to "home" and then letting the collars release onto the cables, I couldn't shift at all! Had to play around with them to get it back to normal.
