Has anyone used this kit or is it suicide for the engine?

The forum vendors put together kits of which the components are selected individually for their quality.

I'd buy one of those.

But for less than thirteen bucks you can get a warranty so if the pump fails and takes out your engine you can get a new pump.

Haha OK I kind of figured. Especially on an interference style engine.

How come you guys are all bad-mouthing this stuff - I mean, look at "the most relevant review":

"Got it fast and everything fits"!

What more could you want?

There's a reason it's about a fifth of the cost of a quality kit.

The reason isn't because all the different vendors selling known-good parts are robbing you.

Oh man, IDparts is sooo good too. Thoughtfully selected kits, friendly AF service, weirdly aggressive pricing.

But yea, those maintenance kits ... so awesome.

Other websites should take note of how easy it is to get the right parts you need.
I only wish they shipped from the West coast as well as back East.

It takes me a week to get my stuff.

Cascade German is in Portland, and also a vendor here.
I ordered my timing belt kit from them and had them in my hands two days later. I had my new IP the next day.

That said, I have no problem with using IDparts, FixMyVW, or any of the other vendors here on the site, just suggesting a local shop to those of us in the NW US.
