I have a 2.0tdi 140 upgraded Hybrid Turbo and inter cooler similar
The safe Max boost For this turbo is around 28-30psi I think I’m around 28
I have stock 3 bar map sensor , I had a feeling I needed a 4 bar map to safely read Spikes but they told me they couldnt get the 4 bar map to work , I said I was a little rusty but the 4 bar map had to be adjusted in the tuning to account for the difference (but that was how it was in my older cars not sure on these later Common rail vw’s
So he left it with the 3 bar map in there , it was fine and produced good performance for a while but now has the glow plug light flashing And engine management fault
I’ve read the code and it’s
“ Turbocharger boost control position sensor A circuit range performance “
Which I believe means the map sensor is not able to read full boost range
Is that right ‘
How will this limit performance It seems strange to drive sometimes and not others like there’s an invisible limiter
Is there any harm to the turbo and what’s the fix (assuming it needs the 4 bar map)
