They are fine finger-tight... the nut on the other end does the work, and there are published torque specs for the nuts. :)

Not crazy. If the nut on the roller is torqued properly, the stud will be torqued properly.
Exactly. Installed finger-tight, they will do any further threading-in needed as the nut on the other end is tightened to the proper torque value.

Which is why that diagram ST linked has nothing on the studs, only the nuts.

Odd that the two nuts have different torques though they are the same size.

All of the studs I've seen sold have blue loctite on them. Seems to me it ought to be tight enough to seat well.
