Except that would be called a GTD, and there never was a Mk4 GTD. Only Mk1 (75hp intercooled and injectored 1.6 turbodiesel), Mk2 (same as Mk1), and Mk3 (90hp intercooled and injectored 1.9 IDI turbodiesel - the Mk3 TDI was torquier and more efficient than the Mk3 GTD.) There's rumors of a Mk5 with the PD170 coming, though.

There WAS a GT TDI, and that's where you'd find a PD150. But that's a GTI.

The rumors were that the PD170 would be in the GTI, badged as a GTD.

All I heard was that in Europe there's a Golf GT (not GTI) that's offered with the PD170 as well as the TFSI 1.4L (which also produces 170hp).

My question is why they wouldn't equip the Golf GT with 4MOTION? Is is not up to the amounts of torque the PD170 is putting down? (keep in mind that one can get a 4MOTION PD140 in europe....it has 236 lb-ft)
