Recently picked up a basic sport cluster from a 2004.5 5 speed (1J5920906Q) to do a cluster swap. I have the SKC for both cluster's and VCDS.
My question is, the my original cluster (1J0920906L) has a speedo of 140 mph and the sport cluster is 160. Will I need to recalibrate the stepper motor for the speedometer or will it adapt when I change the SKC over?

The software required to operate the 160 mph speedo is already written on the sport cluster. You won't need to re-calibrate anything. You can test that everything is ok by running the output tests for the instrument cluster. It cycles the needles and then stops at a given value. If I recall correctly, those values are 3k for the tach, 1/2 for fuel, 190F (or 90C) for temp, and 100kmh. If the speedo lands on 100kmh during the output test, then you're good to go.
