Re-tighten head bolts after 1000Km from headgasket change???

I've changed the head gasket 1000km ago. Is necessary to retighten head bolts after 1000km? Thanks:)

The head bolts are "stretch" type, so they maintain a clamping value. Non-stretch bolts would need to be rechecked.

Once the stretch bolts have been installed/tightened that is it-if you remove them you must replace them, you will never be able to get them tightened properly again.

What are you working on ??

The head gasket is the deciding factor for the 1/4 turn @ 1,000 miles or 1,500 kms .

Earlier engines ( before 1992 in the US ) used the one piece head gasket so they required the re-torque .

But the later engines ( all TDIs ) used a mesh type head gasket with a sealer in between the layers of metal so re-torquing isn't required .

my engine is an AFN 110hps 1998(seat ibiza)...
