I just rolled over 200k miles about two weeks ago. Turbo is tired, needs fender liners removed and cleaned, injectors tired, intake clogged. Needs a lot of little maintenance things, but she is still running quite good.

Blue Golf recently tripped 214k miles. I got it with about 202k miles. (wife's car will soon be joining this club- my car is lagging by about 43k miles)

498,382... should hit 500K this week!
When is the TB due? Kind of curious as to how folks approach TB jobs when their car has mileage this high: issue is whether they're thinking they're going to be getting another 100k miles, or what...

i change them every 100K, per specs. TB done at 450,000, but water pump failed at 490, so put another TB on then. I should be able to go to 590 before having to think about that again. As to how I approach that decision... car is used for business. i have a 2015 golf wagon diesel, which i keep the miles off for the time being. 2003 is paid for, and it's either spend the maintenance money on a car that's paid for, or spend the maintenance money on a car that i have a payment on. i've decided i'm going to keep the 03 on the road until it rusts out. i need a new transmission, and i have a friend that is a vw guy that teaches at the vo-tech. they're going to do my transmission for me for cost of parts when that time comes. my regular mechanic sees no reason why it can't go to 600, with just the regular oil/fuel/air filter changes. i may have something else pop up, but if it costs me about 2K/year to keep it running, why not?

Clearly an extra bonus if a vehicle's maintenance (and mileage) can be written off. My thinking was that my car should last me for the rest of my life: I have 157k miles on it currently; got it with 114k miles. Your mileage bolsters my confidence!

321,868.8 km being 200,000 miles, we passed that last fall. Now that kids are grown, and a recent V70 gift car (from son-in-law as a spare) meant we have been driving Volvo for last few months to sort it out, the Jetta sits for now. I am in a dispute with a supplier who has not shipped parts, as I want to up one size on injectors and turbo before returning to service also contributing to parking, as is tailgate corrosion. Changed out suspension to Bilstein/Eibach VR6 springs at about 40,000km. and did VNT15, injectors and exhaust then as well. Except for one turbo failure (supplier screw up) has been extremely reliable.

My last to jetta TDs went 550,000 and 650,000 kms before the rust got them, so this one will be heading that way. Before getting TOO excited, I have to remember that my Chevy TD ('97 K1500 6.5) farm truck is now at 310,000 kms virtually undisturbed but my FLD120 with the DDECII Detroit is at 1.8 MILLION kms without anything in driveline except for engine accessories and U joints being touchted. The damned valve covers haven't even been off!!!!!!

Have 290,405 on my 2003. It had 289,000 when I bought it. It had the following replaced before I got it:

Timing belt, water pump, struts, front end rebuilt, brakes, clutch, and injectors. I think there were a few other things too.

I replaced the glove box, a washer nozzle, fixed the passenger side window; fell out, and am working on an AC issue now, but love the car so far!

eddi887, you should be set for racking up a lot of trouble-free miles. I think the best strategy is to get everything up to snuff right away.

I have 275,000 on my 2002 Golf ALH, and 260,000 on my 2000 Jetta!
The best part is I take it as a challenge to put as many miles on these as I can!! Not letting up until I see 500,000!!

I hit 200k lately! ...and 500 miles later my clutch would not dis-engage. So the service life of the original clutch could be assumed to last about 200k miles. This will be a good weekend project.

I have an early 05' Jetta. Purchased it two years ago with 160k on it. It now has 245k on it. That is correct - 80k in two years. I did not know 200k was a milestone on a TDI!

I have replaced the timing belt, cam and followers, water pump, I think the oil pump (can't remember and am going to check on that one), clutch, egr block, did a Panzer plate, struts, some other drive train parts like bushings, heater fan and resistor, brakes and tires, trunk hinges.

I just drove Washington to Minnesota and back earlier this month and got 49.5 mpg at 60 to 65 mph on Hwy 2. On the way back I took I-90 and my millage went back down to 46 mpg.

Something breaks and I get it fixed, it is still much cheaper than a new car.

My 7.3 Powerstroke has 230k on it.

Yeah I have hit my 200k+ mark... I started with 15 miles on the odometer. I must admit this little care has carried us along way.

I bought my 03 5 speed Golf with 358,000 miles on it. Now has 361,000+. It had new timing belt kit, new shocks/struts, all four corners, new rear bushings and front CA bushings, new headliner, new door cards, all fluids and filters changed, glass US spec headlight lenses. I think it is on its original clutch as well.

Our '06 BRM Jetta bought new with 40 miles, has 234,000 miles.

hey-Hey!!!,
Passed 200k a little while ago( 209k on it now )...forgot to make the post when it happened. Got the TB done at 192k and learned The Guru, Martin Bergel is going to retire soon.

I got it suffering turbo-induced limp mode, and replaced it with a VNT17. Just gave up on re-polishing the light covers and installed a set of E-Codes from VX Tuning. Going to replace a dented pass fender that I nicked up in the snow last year.

It was purchased off its original owner with 110k on it in '14, and I started racking up serious miles on it with a long commute to work I got half way through '15.

If I turn up a suitable replacement for Martin, I'll get another...failing that the DI/Skyactiv Mazda3 my wife has is far from a poor car...LOL
cheers,
Douglas
