Just a heads-up that the thread title is a probably little misleading, since the date on that article is from 2 years ago...which is kinda when I remember this making the news.
Before panicking and posting a guard dog in one's car at night it might be worth checking to see if VW (and all the other car manufacturers involved at the time) have responded in any way since then.
