Getting ready to install my new skid plate, the OEM VW composite one. Since I bought it used it did not come with the pad of insulation. Those of you with after market plates and no insulation pad, do you really notice any increase in engine noise? I am not too concerned about the heat insulation factor since I live in the desert and have very few cold mornings, and I really don't mind hearing the engine on the outside of the car. If it is important I could transfer the one over from my original thin cover but if it is inconsequential I'd rather not.

I have same grp under engine cover I bought used and it had no sound mat. Think the sound mat probably is only needed with the thin oem cover.
