I took these about a year ago when I was thinking of selling my Benz. It actually got flagged and removed from craigslist twice as a scam. I guess it's a scam to have a nice car and know how to take pictures. I'm glad I kept it. I love this car.

Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't always look like it does above, but I try.

I'm going to pick up my 2006 E320 CDI this weekend. Someone else mentioned a chip... I would like to get mine done too. I'm not interested in a box. Hopefully someone here can point us in the right direction. Maybe they can also shut off that EGR with the chip.

DBW - will the following DVDs from ebay work for getting the full trans flush that you mentioned? No I don't know the person
selling them :)

I am sure that RocketChip does tune MBZ; I would love to see the Sprinter chipped!

And he has a tune for the Sprinter, I've been told.

Regarding old Benz's, I was in LA this past week visiting family, and had a rental Camry. Drove a lot, as it was LA. When I got home Friday night I drove the Benz home from the airport and was impressed by how much better it rode, tracked, and how much better the seats were than in the Toyota. I know it's a M-B, but it's also 17 years old with 180K on it. Those engineers knew a thing or two.

I'm getting mine done by UPsolute in the next week.
The OBD port will be used to do the programming.

I was told that there are three different ECU's for the CDI's in
2006 so they need to down load the program and sent it to Austria
for the right fit for my car then upload the new program.

That is much better than what I had to do for my Land Rover and send the ECU to the UK.

And great shots they are...all of them here in this thread! I find myself checking in just to see the latest additions.

Hey, we all have our "glamor shots". I think the only one here whose car ALWAYS looks as good in person as in the pictures is Dieseldorf:D;)

Good question. I know RocketChip has a tune for the 02-06's. For the newer ones, I'm unsure.

So what gains did they tell you on the RocketChip?

Did a 400 mle round trip today, averaged 37.5 MPG and while on highway (99.9% of the time) CC was set on 72 MPH and this was not in flat country, it was hill country.
Very impressive
Does the speedo read accurate or 3mph high, like VW?

I still have a 124.133 kicking around - (a 1987 300d, 124 body with a OM603 engine for those who don't speak MB).

She's currently sleeping at a local specialist - head is probably cracked courtesy of someone who didn't see the low coolant idiot light and drove the car for 30 mins.... (and it wasn't me this time!!!)

Trans is also leaking... the end is probably nigh!

Thinking about getting an idiot light installed for the temp gauge on the wife's 603.

My temp gauge has been wacky since I bought my Benz. It jumps to max and comes back to normal after about 20 minutes of driving. Coolant is fine. I'm told it's probably a bad ground.

I got my confirmation today - the head is cracked. I'm in the process of pricing out the parts, but the car is probably scrap.

Install a huge flashing idiot light. Then you can hope that she sees it. Mine didn't. Yes, I'm a bit upset this morning over this....

Part of the problem is the gage, they Americanized all the gages but the heat gage. Never understood that one, it jusy plain stupid. People see 100 and think it's running cool, and by time the car is steaming or making noise it's too late. Big time problem for the person who is not a regular driver of MB cars.

RC, how about also rigging up the seatbelt buzzer to the coolant warning light?

Regarding temp gauge, my '79 had a *C gauge while my '77 has a *F gauge.

Good idea. That's got to be the most annoying sound out there. It has trained me to always fasten my seat belt before turning the key to avoid the buzz.

Well spent $400 Monday for transmission service and 2 oil filters and a fuel filter ($53!!!) and had all the service reminders cleared. Fluid was like new, smelled good and no metal in filter.

In talking with SM he said that quite a few of their customers are doing 20,000 oil changes to keep them matched to fuel filter where they are not doubling the down time. Guessed he noticed my concerned look and said that every I-6 CDI has 110,000 to 170,000 miles and that my car has the lowest amount of miles of any of the I-6 cars they are servicing. He said that they have never had to replace a belt, injector or even a GP on any of the I-6 cars. Only one car has had a brake job and that was about 125k miles and the owner lives in the country and drives about 12 miles every day on the gravel road. Not sure what that has to do with it unless it is caused by dust maybe??? He did say that about 2/3 of those cars the owners use Mobil 1 5w40 diesel oil instead of the 0w-40 Mobil 1 oil. I kind of got the impression he or dealership recommended that oil in the CDI's.

When I mentioned that my wife's old 124 300D had 130,000+ on original brakes, he smiled and said that's not unusual and that none of the CDI sold has had a brake as of yet. He made a comment that stayed with me and that is the diesel MB's seem for some reason to be less problematic then the current gas cars and said we must doing something right, because the 5 speed trans were not as trouble free in gas cars. I told him that one big difference is at start up we diesel drivers wait a minute before dropping the trans into gear, and that 45 to 60 seconds we wait gives fluid time to get to transmissions torque converter thus prevent early failures and he said he agreed that could very well be the difference.

I had my transmission serviced and it was $375 by, itself so you got a deal.

On brakes I'm changing my out this weekend, my parts should be here Friday.
I have 73K and 40 to 50% left.
With the car new to me I going to have a starting point.

On the oil I used the Mobil One ESP Formula M 5w40, and if I can not get that I will use Delvac ESP 5w40 I feel that 0w40 is to thin for a diesel.
