would a tdi tiguan engine and auto tranny fit into a b5 vehicle without too much difficulty, any thoughts ?

Thank you for that info, my inquiry was for whatif my engine in my 05 Passat decides to crap out due to that balance shaft issue i been reading about and I would just install a good modification instead of a delete.

The Tiguan was not sold here with a TDI engine.
And the BHW engine in your Passat, once the balance shaft issue is corrected, is just as good if not better in some respects than a lot of the newer engines anyway (at least, it is simpler and seems to be tougher, and it is pretty much just as powerful).
