I had another failure of the O2 sensor. this last one lasted 1.5yrs the original lasted 13 years.
the original pn 06A 906 262 BK / 0281004001/002 with 950mm cable

was replaced with Bosch 17180 ( 1K0-998-262 N/14 , 0 258-017-180 per label on box). (1220mm cable length - too long! better than too short!!)

I have been studying these things and appears that they are all the same. Of course Staying in the same sensor family ie all Bosch LSU 4.9 types use the same sensor and the same connector just different length cable??. really?

so are they same?????? I cannot find an answer....

so can one use a Bosch 17025 as a replacement? (has correct cable length, ~1M) appears to be less expensive. however it is not listed as a replacement.
what is the difference???

has any one tried the 17025? are we stuck using OEM part nos?

thanks

I have been having the same problem, the replacement Bosch lasted less than a year for me.

I would rather get a tune and delete the 02 than have to spend the money on an OEM one.

update-went ahead and bought 17025 sensor

update 18 Jul 2019- I went ahead and purchased a Bosch LS 17025 , 0 258 017 025
installed today. perfect fit !!! in fact same as original in most all important aspects.
only difference is the most likely updated outer sheath on the cable.
I have not driven car other than to garage it and clear F codes

I still think all LSU4.9 sensors are same .... we will all find out if the cheap one does the job! $65 is reasonable for Bosch unit.

according to another thread....the sensor only controls the EGR on the PD TDI..no fuel trim so we just might be able to use the $30 chinese stuff......if only to pass smog tests!:p

PS I will up date this later after a week or so of driving.

update- on 17025 or 0 258 017 025, LSU 4.9 sensor

2 Aug - two weeks and no issues, so far seems like a perfect solution and a lot more reasonable than steelership or oem costs.

vag com all measurements in spec.

appears to me to be a valid cross.:)...and looks like my premise of all LSU 4.9 sensors are all the same, is valid :D!!! just wiring/cable/connector needs to be verified.

this one is drop in perfect for a 2004-2006 BEW TDI most likely will work for all with a 1M cable length.
