Recall notice

I got a recall notice in the mail today saying:

"WK- SAFETY RECALL- RIGHT REAR WHEELHOUSE LINER/SHIELD"

What does this mean and is it something I need to have checked out?

I have a '98 A3 TDI and got the same notice. If I remember correctly, some owner(s) ran the right rear tire flat until it got so hot chunks flew off and did nasty things in the wheel well--tore the filler tube loose, I think. So now we have to be protected from our own ignorance. I've been ignoring the recall for some time--didn't want a dealership messing around. But I finally scheduled it; felt responsible to a possible future owner. I will insist on inspecting the repair when it's done.
