Default Enviro Cat Reduces diesel emissions...

I found this out on the VW news group, I believe the gentleman who put it out there is a Fred TDI page member... If so, please tell us more about your testing!!

These tests yielded the following average percentage reductions. (average percentage reductions relevant to base line are as follows): HC -54.47 % CO -81.97 % Nox - 5.83 % HC = Hydro Carbons CO = Carbon Monoxide
Nox = Oxides of Nitrogen

ESWW in conjunction with a third party, are presently analyzing the test results to evaluate the commercial production of the Enviro Cat(TM) for diesel applications.
The company would further like to mention that Popular Science, the worlds largest science and technology magazine, has an article on the Enviro Cat(TM) in the February 2000 issue on page 40 The company intends to announce further corporate updates and developments in the immediate future.

It looks like an effective catalytic converter for the reduction of carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbons, areas in which the TDI already excels. Only a 6% reduction in oxides of nitrogen, which is exactly where the TDI would have problems meeting future standards. Particulate emissions, another problematic area, were not at all addressed in this report.
