TDI chugging/Choppy Idle

My 2000 TDI ALH seems to chug or idle choppy when I am braking with the clutch in and coming to a stop or sometimes just at idle. The piece I'm pointing to in the picture is loose and wiggly. Also in the other picture is a black zip tie and I'm not sure if that is factory or was put there. So question is where can I find the piece and should I get the whole piece from the brake drum to the Engine.
Also what is the correct battery for our cars?
Thanks

I couldn't see the pictures. But besides that, it sounds like it could be the injection quantity adjusted too rich. It could easily be checked with VCDS.

I had the same thing with my ALH when I first got it. It would idle rough when slowing and as soon as I came to a stop, it would smooth out. Eventually I found this forum and found out about the IQ adjustment. Adjusted the IQ and the problem was fixed.

So you're gonna need to find someone with a VCDS that is willing to plug into your car and find out what the IQ is currently reading. From there, after reading up on it here on this site, you will be able to adjust the IQ using the hammer mod technique. Oh, and you'll need the correct torx bit as well as the magic triangle security bit/socket for the security bolt on the top of the injection pump. Without that, you'll just break stuff, and broken injection pumps are pricey to fix.

That is assuming that it in fact is the injection pump IQ that needs an adjustment. So what is the problem with the zip-tied item? Like above, until we can see it, we can't hope to help. Please, look at posting photos on this site.

Cheers,

PH
