cruise drops out after a half mile or so

is this problem related to a brake light switch problem. Seem to remember the switch underwent many incarnations.

So is it a 2004/2005 Passat TDI and if so, does it have an automatic or is it manual?

its an original 2005 b5.5 automatic

What VCDS codes do you get?

That I'll have to do when the person I sold it to brings it over to me. I don't have it myself anymore. I'll post codes if any in a week or so. I was hoping someone here had had similar problem.
