DSG issues?

2011 JSW DSG (buyback, RIP), 2014 JSW TDI, 2015 Passat TDI, 2013 Jetta TDI.
From time to time, cold engine, trans wont shift. It stays stuck at first gear and tries to shift into 2nd but goes back to first gear. Have to keep driving around local streets of my community until engine is halfway warmed up. Then shifts normally. It does that after 1-3 days of sitting such as weekends. Does it mean DSG ECU are failing or?

There are just too many to list....
OBD works, I'd start there and ask the M-unit if it has some issues.

If no DTCs are present, I would then look at the ATF temp value and see if it is in fact what you'd expect it to be after a cold start. It should be essentially the same as fuel, coolant, and intake air temp KOEO before starting the engine cold.
