Do you have a drill press, a die grinder, a 110v MIG, a computer hooked to the internet, and a credit card for which to purchase things on the internet ?
Are your fab skills enough to make one adapter, and a fabbed-up straight pipe exhaust ? And if you can fab your own exhaust, then i'm assuming you can fab your own FMIC piping.
If the above is true, then your already there, you just don't know it yet.
Keep in mind that we're not doing anything now that europe hasn't done 3 years ago, we (NA tdi'ers) just didn't pay attention. (Yes, i know they have better fuel)
Oliver already proved that stock air box, stock head, stock cam, with a FMIC can make 200hp. So that's unnecessary, excluding the FMIC.
Ebay FMIC kit - Fab required of course - $200 - add in a extra bent pipe or two, or extra silicon - $100. Welding consumables - $50.
So continuing with the fab, the exhaust, I did my own 2.5" straight pipe on my mk3 Jetta for less than $150. So we'll add in welding consumables to get $200.
Ben just proved that a stock log exhaust manifold can make 200hp (even though it's bored out to fit the larger turbine). So lets pick up a used AHU manifold on which to bolt our fancy turbo. Searched tdiclub in 07 one sold for 60.... So, $100.
Oliver has a vnt2056 for sale for $350, here...

Homemade adapter plate, to mate to AHU manifold, made with drill press and die grinder, $50.
Above Ed paid 450 CAD, for a used 11mm pump, that's currently working for him, ignoring exchange rates, ~$500.
VR6 Clutch, flywheel, PP, bolts, new in box $350 (have tuner tune out some low end torque)

RACE520's $435 Kermatdi
http://www.kermatdi.com/servlet/Detail?category=Bosio+TDI+Nozzles+%2796-%2703&no=22&searchpath=5950835
Subtotal = $2,335
$2750 - $2335 = $415
So in 15 minutes we just hit everything needed, with $415 left over for tuning. Which I know is a tad low, but i was rounding "UP" on everything else there.
