Is the suspension compatible?

I have an 1998 mk3 Jetta tdi, and the suspension is just really old and starting to go. My question is, will suspension from a gas mk3 Jetta (like 1.8L or 2.0L) be compatible on my tdi?

Yes if it's a 4 cylinder. (VR6 has more parts differences.)

Look for stuff for '96 or later. Mounts, at least, changed in '96.

The thing to consider is the difference in weight as this is all that really changes.

Upgraded stiffer suspension is from a v6. Mounts and such will be the same.

If the Jetta has the same setup as the B4, the VR6 dampers are going to make the car sit nose-high.

Besides, there aren't a lot of options left for these cars. Bilstein TCs, Koni STR.Ts, maybe OE Sachs (probably Monroe now). That's about it, I think.
