Left Front Turn Signal Replacement

I have been having the rapid flash on my left, but no light were out. Today when I locked the car with the remote the lights flashed, but the front left turn signal was very dim. I believe this is the culprit. HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET TO IT? I looked all over, under, on top, sideways, and even front ways and I still can't figure this damn thing out. This is nothing like my good old beetle light replacement 101.

If its the passenger side signal, then the procedure is very easy. A clip holds a cover to the back of the headlight assembly. Push the clip to the right and the cover slides out. Rotate the bulb about 1/8 of a turn and it comes out of the socket.

Check the connection to the bulb first. I thought my bulb was burnt out but the connection was loose. If the problem is on the driver's side, you're in for a major ordeal. Someone with a Bentley manual can give you directions.

Good luck

I just noticed you have a 98 model. My instructions are for a 2000 Golf.

Gary, I just replaced my front left turn signal bulb less than a week ago on my "98 Jetta. This is how it is done:

When facing vehicle, first pry off the blank white panel to the left of the turn signal. The left side of it pivots out. This will expose the clips that Denton was talking about. You then push the two clips, and then the turn signal unit pops out.

Its easy!

Ric, Thanks a lot. Took about 2 minutes. Skypup, Ric has some good answers and comments more frequent than not.

Thanks again,
