Living in California I’m pretty sure I will have to have my new (bought mid September) Beetle TDI recalled and “updated

Can someone explain to me what my options will be, afterwards, to restoring, or even increasing my power? Opinions sought :)

I’ve been looking at various sites, So far I am thinking about chip express, going to an APR dealer and it doesn’t look like Bluefin makes a reprogramming device for my car

CARB can go to hell. I don’t mind spending the money to retain and/or improve my performance, as long as I can reset everything to pass the stupid smog. I’m not a “car guy” but don’t mind plugging in something or turning the occasional screw

What are my options, and if I’m going to do this I’d just as soon do it now rather than later and enjoy more horsepower.

APR
Malone
Chip Express
?

Thanks in advance

I know Rocketchip has tunes for the '15s. I assume other tuners do, too.

But your car may not take a hit on power or economy. '15s and '16s seem to meet, or be close to, EPA specifications. You'll know better after the recall is complete.

Anyone else have any information?

Nobody on this forum will tell me what is what, or at LEAST point me to a FAQ, regarding chipping or ECU remapping?

Please?

Who is good, how much does it cost... thank you in advance.

You can easily do this yourself. There aren't that many tuners to chose from and they all have a presence here. Malone, Kerma, Rocketchip to name a few. They all have web sites with what they can and can't chip. Call them and talk with them about what you want.

There is plenty to read here about these tuners and their tunes, and from talking to them you should be able to make up your mind what you want. Google is your friend. With all that is going on right now with VW, tuning would be the least of the things I would do at the moment. Plenty of time to search, read, talk and decide what you might want to do later though. It usually takes the tuners some time to start doing the newest cars and only they will know when they are ready.
