Btw does anyone know the wieght of a 1.4 tdi without transmission? A friend is building a so called "hoverwing" you can see funny movies about it on youtube..

It will be a 1.4tdi or 12A rotary that will serve as power plant for this creature

Hello guys...
I read your discussion but i can'd find a conclusion ...
So ... I understood that on my VW Lupo, 1.4 TDI, 75 HP, AMF i have a Garrett GT1544s Turbo but does the GT1749V works on this engine?
What changes shall i do to obtain a nice tunning from this engine, a little more torque in the lower ratios and more HP's?

A fast spooling turbo, like a gt1749v, or even better an KKK kp-39 (spools to my feeling a little sooner than a garrett on a 4pot)

Then cut one runner from that manifold, make the downpipe fit (weld other flange), change N75 valve, use base programming from a 90hp A2 to start with, then you can choose to put ASZ/ARL injectors or not, these will give you more top end..

What did you mean when you said:"Then cut one runner from that manifold, make the downpipe fit (weld other flange)"?

yes a 1.9L turbo with manifold has 4 ports, and your engine only has 3, so one need to be cut and welded shut, and the downpipe flange is different on the gt1544s then on a vnt so that needs to be fixed also..

Do you imply by saying it that with kp-39 (found on PD100) one can achieve more hps than with gt1749v(VNT15)?

I think he's saying it's better suited to the engine. Can probably be had cheaper and is relatively easy to find compared to the Garrets.

No I say I personnaly feel that it spools a little quicker on a 1.9 application, both spool very quick but still..

Ok. I see. The question raised because at the moment I have to opt beetwen VNT15 or kp-39 007. Don't know which one is better for AGR.

Yeap ... i know i have only 3 cylinders ...
Now i understood ... so garrett vn15(gt1749) and the appropriate intake manifold , the n75 valve, the 90hp ecu map from the A2 ... and the last but not the insignifiat ... 3 injectors from ASZ/ARL.
With a good mapping, how many HP shall i get with this cocktail?

as an 4 cilinder ARL does 50hp per cilinder usually you easy do the math.. you will maybe need a 3 bar mapsensor, who knows..

Intake manifold on the 1.4 tdi is quite good imo

I think the vnt15 will not spool any later than the stock gt1544s, probaly even a little sooner..

It is an upgrade, but a sintered disk is kind of "digital" in operation, only full open or full closed...if used with standard pressure plate and flywheel, you should prefer to take a organic disc.

And keep in mind, that your tranny has limited capability for torque!

As it wasn't answered, the weight of the 1.4 is about 250 lbs. I have three in transit, I'll be putting my K03 hybrid turbos on them for better performance .

Now I just need to decide if I want to put one in the Cabrio or not...
