The wife's 2004 Golf headlights (Low beam) quit.
The is no voltage at the light socket.
Does anyone know where the relay is located?
I see that 173 is the DRL relay, But swapping it did not make a differance.

I knew you would, have but had to ask.

Did some searching and found also maybe the Turn/Flash/Cruise Combo switch, but no luck on the location of the relay

Nothing chews up headlights faster than a mk4 golf.

I've had a pair of bulbs go in a couple of months... out of the package to landfill far too fast for my liking.

They tend to most often go pop when they're full off, and you turn on the headlights without dropping the parking brake first. Fully cold to full voltage is not so good with h7 bulbs.

That's one of the nice things about having a Euro switch. I am using an aftermarket HID kit and to extend the life of the bulbs, I only use my parking lights in the daytime. It has become an instinctive habit for me to turn the switch to the 12 o'clock position before starting the engine. Also when I shut the engine off I return the switch to 12 o'clock if I have been driving at night and then when the key is in the off position turn the switch to the off position.

The reason I follow this procedure, I have noticed the lights go off and momentarily come on again before shutting down altogether. Not too good for the bulbs.

... None :S
For the record there is no relay for the headlights on any VW up to the mk5, all the power goes through the headlight switch.

173 relay on 2005 Jetta TDI MK IV

So I removed the 173 relay and it only has to do with DRLs? Nothing to do with my low beam headlights not working?
